Welcome to the Inkscape Beginners’ Guide!¶ Hi! Are you new to Inkscape? Learn more about Inkscape, an open source vector graphics editor, in this free, community-created Beginners’ Guide. Inkscape's primary vector graphics format is Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), however many other formats can. Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor it can be used to create or edit vector graphics such as illustrations, diagrams, line arts, charts, logos and complex paintings. One method is downloading and installing directly from Inkscape and the other is installing it from the Microsoft App store. There are two basic methods for installing Inkscape onto computers with a Windows operating system. Installing Inkscape on Windows¶ Inkscape is available for Microsoft Windows operating systems from XP up to Windows 10. Shapes like rectangles, ellipses, polygon, stars and the 3D. InkScape provides excess to design intricate vector shapes. The diagrams, line arts, charts, logos, and painting can be edit using this software. Close Inkscape overall and reopen it (This restarts it).InkScape for Mac: InkScape is open source and free of cost software for a graphics editor. First Open Inkscape:) (If you have NOT installed the new features do this step).Go to the extension tab and look for Ink/Stich - English - Click Install add-ons for Inkscape.A black screen will appear and wait until a little box to appear and click install. Once again, you can open this folder by selecting Go ‣ Downloads from the menu bar in the Finder. Once the download has finished, open your Downloads folder in the Finder.
Click the box labelled Mac OS X 10.7 Installer (xquartz) to download the DMG file, which contains the installer. Using a web browser, go to the Inkscape 0.92.2 downloads page. XQuartz is software created by Apple that allows you to run certain cross platform. Here at, I'll click on the Mac OS Download button, and I get some information explaining that Inkscape requires something called XQuartz.
